Queens Of The STone Age LP Record Wallet by BCA

 

This is was a Classic BCA LP Wallet ordered by Derek for his lady. Derek also sent in the vinyl for production which is very cool for us. I must say I really enjoyed figuring out the best cuts for these LP's. The Queens Of The Stone Age LP has some great album art which always makes for a great looking BCA wallet. We probably spun the album 10 times on our shop Technics 1200 table before destroying for some fine pocket art. Thanks Derek.

A Beautiful Bar of Chocolate : Guitar Fret Belt Buckle

This was a custom made buckle for the 2011 NAMM show. It features the black binding and colorful abalone side dot inlays. The buckle is ebony wood with Mother-of-Pearl trapezoid inlays. Everything is handcrafted including the leather belts and cast buckle backs. All buckles are clear coated and gloss polished. YUM! When I work with ebony it always remind me of chocolate. I am addicted to chocolate. Ebony ironically smells similar to chocolate when its sanded but unfortunatley the taste is just not there and the texture just does not compare to a Hersey's Bar. Now I know there is plenty of high end chocolate out there but Herseys is my favorite. If you are ever in Pennsylvania; check out the Hersey Factory.

Skateboard Sk8 Purse, Wallets, & Buckles by Black Crow Arts

This custom Sk8 purse was made from 2 used skateboard decks, one a hook-ups deck and the other was cut from a speed demon. Each blank was cut and sanded to its thinnest point and fused to a pyramid style nylon purse with bamboo handles. Handles come natural or in gloss black. All the edges are sealed black. Tons of work! Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy LP Vinyl Record Wallet : BCA

I was a total Zepp Head in my teens, in fact I started playing guitar because I wanted to learn some of Jimmy's riffs. Zeppein is an incredible multi-dimensional band. If you are dazed and confused with communication breakdown, there is always Zeppelin's debut which has been a continual top seller at BCA. If you are over the hills and far away and dancing days are upon you; Zeppelins 5th studio album  is the wallet of choice. 

For some reason or another I never got around to making a Houses of the Holy wallet until this custom order came in; I am glad I did because it has exceeded my expectation and looks great. In the first days of making the Record Wallets I hand-crafted a Zeppelin II gift wallet for a fellow who was suffering from the AIDS virus. He was a friend of my girls and his sickness was terminal. I found out later that after he passed he had loved the wallet and it was buried with him. RIP my friend and may you have a safe journey to the other-side.

These pair of earrings are some of the sexiest and classically beautiful handmade pieces sold. They look stunning whether your out in jeans and a tee or fully dressed Audrey Hepburn style. There is a slight radius to the earrings just like a fretboard. The premium ebony wood is shaped and polished smooth. Each unit has a slice of top grade mother-of-pearl inlay down the center. Sex Pistol Nevermind The Bollocks : BCA Classic Record Wallet

Although the Ramones Rocket to Russia was the very first Record Wallet; The Sex Pistols "Nevermind The Bollocks" was the first wallet I personally owned and used...I used it until it was beat down......it took awhile. Awesome album and killer wallet! There is nothing better then dropping the needle on some black wax on a Technics 1200 turntable. Its that warm itchy-go-scratchy sound with deep bass and crisp highs; vinyl is king.

SOUNDGARDEN BADMOTORFINGER : BCA RECORD WALET

This Soundgarden BadMotorFinger Modern Record Wallet in nylon was one of my favorites to date. I like to listen to the albums before and during production and this is one of the best albums EVER! There are alot of folks out there; mostly vinyl enthusiast that dont like the idea of destroying vinyl for any purpose. As an artist I would have to agree and disagree. I do usually try to find scratched or warped vinyl. Vinyl is very costly and some pieces are just not suited for recreation. When I first started making these there was not alot of reproduction vinyl but there is today! Thank the vinyl Gods!
 
 I get alot of questions about durability. Each wallet is meticulously handcrafted. The album is fused to specialty hardboard backing. this hardboard is very durable and semi flexible. All edges are sealed black and after lacquer, the wallet is polished. Due to material nature and handmade artistry, minor blems are expected and are often very desirable for they only add to each wallets uniqueness. On the flipside these wallets are made from vinyl LPs and should be respected and cared for over a standard wallet. These wallets will also have less pocket flex due to the hardboard backing.

BCA : Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffan'y LP Record Wallet

Our wallets come in two styles; Modern (MOD) & Classic (CRW). The classic is a checkbook style and the modern is the smaller pocket size. The nylon version have rounded corners and the leathers version have square cornering.

BCA : Beatles Abbey Road Classic Record LP Wallet

This here was a custom order for a Beatles CRW (Classic Record Wallet). This was an in-between production version where the album was coated with a high quality clear poylmer. The wallets of today are left as original as possible with a light durable protective coating. The vinyl portion of each wallet is now cleaned and left alone. The original black vinyl luster is all it needs. Vinyl is beautiful and a fun medium to not only listen to but to also work with.

This wallet was made with a black nylon wallet.

Black nylon is still available. Our new wallets come standard with a black leather wallet.There are savings if you choose nylon and if you have an LP you would like use for production.

Black Crow Arts The RAMONES

The Beginning: 

I guess you could say it started with the Ramones; not only punk rock but our company now known as Black Crow Arts or BCA. I am the owner of the company but its more like an artist studio that happened to become functional art for sale. I didnt have to sell my soul to the devil to do it but I have been influenced by people and bands that may have or maybe they just snuck up into ole Beelzebub's basement and stole his licks. 

Rewind:

My Ramones vinyl melts on my heater that I had bought in a LP boutique store in Seattle Washington. I had recently lost my wallet and needed another. Why trash my Ramones album when I could just make something out of it..but what? I always liked mixed media and I had always like destroying my artwork. Sometimes in destroying one or several things and combining the components one could come out with

something completely unique and original; a philosphy I learned early on from the punk rock ethos. I thought it would be pretty neat if I could make a wallet from my album and so the Record Wallet was born in 2006 with a Rocket To Russia LP. I used a portion of the front cover for the front of the wallet and portion of the vinyl for the back. The first wallets were super cool and my friends started to ask to purchase them and then small boutique shops started to find out about my work and also started buying and requested custom orders and BCA was born.

Rewind Further:

I was more or less a traveling gypsy going from place to place after the age of 18. I had been an artist my whole life and grew up around music in Pennsylvania. I found myself in several places including Yosemite Valley, Santa Barbara, Lake Tahoe, Dana Point, San Clemente, Seattle, and Long Beach California. In Kings Beach North Lake Tahoe I worked in a local mountain music shop. I painted Merle (shop owner)a portrait of Robert Johnson and Merle gave me a job. Merles Music was the name. Merle taught me how to repair, build and finish guitars. I grew up playing guitar and was influenced by bands like the Wailing Wailers, Doors, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Sex Pistols, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, and too many others to list.

My neighbors were family and Eppy was a producer and his wife Linda Creed Epstein was a song writer. Stephen (aka. Eppy) Epstein worked with several bands including War. Lyricist Linda Creed teamed with composer/producer Tom Bell to author a series of hits forever linked to the lush and seductive Philly soul sound of the early 1970's. Linda wrote music for bands and artist such as The Stylistics, Spinners, Prince, Johnny Gill, Dusty Springfield, George Benson, and Whitney Houston. (Linda Creed Foundation)

I studied art at numerous of schools/colleges during my earlier years including Art Honors in high school, the Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe and the Art Institute of Southern California now know as the Laguna College of Art & Design. Areas of study were focused on sculpture, graphic design, art history, music, guitar, drawing, painting, airbrush, printmaking, pottery, stained glass, silk-screening, and photography. 

Fast Forward:

Somewhere along the line, after teaching guitar for 12 years, my influences kept crashing into each other and eventually gave way to the Record Wallet, Sk8 Wallet and the Guitar & Bass Belt Buckle Collection. Exposure from featured articles in Playboy Magazine, GQ Magazine, Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, Skunk and numerous online sites have helped spread the word about BCA helping to establish our name and work.
